Website/Service Review: Leaptrade

Hello everybody, Shaun Meyers (Kyo Akiara) here to bring you our latest review for a fairly new game trading website known as Leaptrade. We were contacted by an employee of the website to conduct a review of their services and since we enjoy reviewing just about anything, including websites that aid gamers, we agreed to do so. It’s actually not a widely known fact but we enjoy reviewing services that help gamers in various ways. It’s been a long time since our last website/service review though so the fact that we do has faded into obscurity. Still, we enjoy doing so and if there are ever any other websites/services that people would like reviewed, feel free to contact us through the website.

About Leaptrade:

Some of you might be wondering what Leaptrade is exactly. Leaptrade put simply is a website/service dedicated to game trading. Instead of going through corporations that mark up prices and give you next to nothing for your games Leaptrade allows you to trade games with other players directly. The price you see is what you pay and if you trade something in the price you see is what you receive in return. Say for example, Pokemon X is $30.00 and you’d like to purchase it from someone, you will pay that $30.00 and that’s it, no tax, no shipping costs and no hassle. In the opposite side if you’d like to trade something in you’ll receive that $30.00 in trade and the only price you’ll have to pay is for shipping and handling when you send it out.

Membership and Shipping Costs:

Leaptrade is a completely free service and allows you to list trades, purchase games and use it’s full range of faculties with no limitations or fees. The only fee for using the service is for shipping costs when you send your game out for delivery to another person. Shipping costs either $3.49 for orders over $10.00 and weigh 7 ounces or less and $2.49 for orders less than $10.00 and weigh less than 7 ounces or less. If you’d like to sign up for the website yourself, you can join and start trading here: http://www.leaptrade.com/pages/home/showregister:1/referrer:kyoakiara

Trading Games:

Leaptrade offers three types of trading styles. A basic trade allows you to use leaptrade credit that you can add to your account at any time using the add credit section of the website. The next trade style is instant trade, which allows you to trade one game for another game instead of using credit and your hard-earned cash. The final method of trading is called friend 2 friend which allows you to trade directly with friends. There are also some benefits to trading with friends as well, doing so allows you to trade two games for one game, trade both a game and leaptrade credit and receive a game and leaptrade credit for a game. It’s a very good system they have going and makes trading with other players incredibly easy.

Leaptrade allows you to trade games from a wide variety of different platforms ranging from PC, Xbox One, PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, Xbox, Xbox 360, Sega Master System, Sega Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance and Nintendo 3DS to name but a few platforms. You can trade from just about any of the popular systems from the dawn of gaming allowing you to find games from any system you choose. The 3 games that I chose to trade for to review Leaptrade were Pokémon X for the Nintendo 3DS, Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns also for the 3DS and Devil May Cry 1 for the PS2 to be playing on the PS2 emulator. I’m still waiting on Harvest Moon as of writing this article but both Pokémon X and Devil May Cry were in perfect condition and they arrived very quickly. I’m quite pleased with the purchases.

When you see a game you wish to buy all you have to do is click on the request button on the game in question and it’ll bring up the trade window. You can choose from three different types of trades, this applies to trade in’s as well. You can choose to request the full package, the game and the disc holder or just the disc. The full package comes with everything, manual, game and case while the other two are limited in their contents. After you’ve selected which you’d like to request it’ll be time to choose which trade type you’d like, leaptrade credit, instant trade or friend to friend trading. Once this is done you will either have to wait for the leaptrade system to find a seller for you or you will be able to buy it right away if there are copies available. Once you submit your request and you’re matched with someone you’ll need to wait until they confirm the order and if they accept they’ll then send out your game and you’ll receive it once it’s shipped.

Leaptrade also integrated their entire system with the USPS allowing you to keep trade of where your orders are at any time during the shipping process. Once the game has arrived you can then submit your feedback on your purchase, leaving comments on the contents and your overall satisfaction. Since I was very satisfied with my own purchases I left positive feedback and comments.

Other Sections:

Leaptrade also has other sections of their website many users may find handy. The first is called My collection. In this section of the website you can add any game you own to your collection for other people to view. The system is quite easy to use, you just choose the platform the game is for then type in the name of the game. Once you’ve found it you can then choose the type of game you own, full package, game disc only or case and disc. Once completed it’ll then be added to your collection. In the my trades section you can keep track of any games you’re currently trading in or purchasing. The website also features a profile and a forums so you can easily get in contact with the community.

Final Score:

Overall, Leaptrade has been a very good website for trading games and I’m quite pleased with their services. It’s been a very smooth process ordering games, keeping track of orders and trading in games. Leaptrade is actually a website that I’d never heard of when I first received the review request from their employees but I’m glad they did contact me otherwise I’d have never realized it existed. It’s a fantastic site for trading in games and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. I give Leaptrade a 9 out of 10, I’m very satisfied with their services and I’ll definitely be using them again in the near future.

Conclusion:

Thanks for reading our review for Leaptrade folks, it’s been a long time since our last website/service review and it feels good letting people know about another good service. Thanks again folks and happy gaming!
